Our son Bash
- Posted on
This is an update about our son's health and how it has effected the store.
We want to thank everyone in the #yyjbike community for all the love, support, and well wishes we’ve received over these last weeks.
We try to keep our personal posts to a minimum, but we are a family bike shop, our entire ethos revolves around family and our family is facing an unimaginable situation. Bash has been diagnosed with a very rare, aggressive, brain tumour. He will undergo at least six months of chemotherapy at BC Children’s in Vancouver and will not be able to leave the hospital during this time. Liz will be there with him, and Rob will travel over when possible, while also being home in Victoria to support our daughters, and keeping the shop open. We knew starting a business during a pandemic would be difficult, but we could have never foreseen this hurdle.
Having to close the shop at times, and limit hours at others has been difficult in our first six months of business. Many people have been asking how they can help, offering to start GoFundMes or similar campaigns and while we appreciate the offers this isn’t something we are comfortable with. However, you can support us by supporting Bishop‘s. Come to the shop or purchase a Bishop’s Gift Card now to use for future purchases. You can also encourage new faces into the shop by buying gift cards for your friends and family.
We have a hard time asking for help, but so many of you have reached out asking what you can do and supporting the store is the best way to help us and our family.
